Our courtyard technology projects were just recognized by a TIP (Technology Innovation Program) Award from the South Carolina Educational Technology Association! Way to go, BJA teachers and students! A team of teachers and administrators from BJA just returned from an exciting trip to Charleston, SC to receive the award and participate in the SCEdTech convention. Dr. Klipp and Miss Klipp presented a rousing session on some of our favorite tools like Kahoot, Plickers, AWWapp, and Answer Pad! Over 130 people in the session were logged in at one time (in a room that seated 50)! This award, though, is about so much more than just our devices or the great times we have using them in our courtyard, it represents our BJA spirit of teamwork and desire to never stand still when it comes to learning and progressing! Keep GROWING, BJA!
Geometry in Mr. LeBlanc's class wasn't just drawing lines with rulers and measuring with protractors, it included a walk through the courtyard to find angles and various shapes. Each student labeled their work and then showed their ideas on a walk to share their work!
2C has been spending time in the courtyard observing the plants and animals. They worked together to write a story about their adventure and then illustrated what they saw.
4B has been checking the courtyard pumpkin blossoms for the development of its fruit since our Science study of how the blossom becomes the fruit of flowering plants. The fruit is very important to the plant because it contains the seeds which enable the plant to reproduce/ make another of its kind.
In preparation for their trip to Paris Mountain State Park, the fifth graders are practicing their ecological skills. They have been in the courtyard testing water samples and investigating the ecosystems found outside our very classroom windows! Can you guess how cold the water is? Stay tuned below for their updates.
