As part of Mr. Mark's capstone graduate project, first graders participated in mini-lessons and hands-on classifying and identifying activities in the courtyard. Each station was labeled with a number that matched their recording sheet, as they decided if each had corners, faces, and curves. If you'd like to use the numbers to make stations of your own for any investigation in any subject, they are now located in the bench in the stone classroom bordering 1C. Be creative and get outdoors!
Word Whiz buddies in 6th and 1st grade joined together out in the courtyard for a punctuation investigation. Each group traveled the path looking for clues that needed to be solved by adding punctuation or correcting ones already there. Sixth graders had the opportunity to guide the 1st graders in their choices and review important concepts they learned when THEY were six! It was a great day in Word Whiz Club!
